This was a fantastic trip, Simon the driver was so friendly and helpful. The farm visit was so good,we learnt a lot about wool,sheep etc. We all had an individual lunch packed for us which included lots of things in it.it was very,very good. Last stop was the winery,it was beautiful,tasted lots of beautiful wines ,sat out in the sun,couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant day. Highly recommended.

Simon was a fabulous guide & Driver .Geoff was awesome, ensuring everything ran smoothly . lunch was devine.colourful, tasty.& it was so neat ,to feed Donnie the miniature Horse ,at the stop where we collect the lunch boxs.. The farm visit was amazing.James was so friendly & relaxed, sharing info about the sheep, farm ,dogs..everything to do with runnning the farm..We learnt a lot & it was such fun.spectacular scenery. and to finish at the winery was a lovely touch..relaxing in the sunshine, sampling beautiful wines.Bliss..highly recommend this tour..

It was lovely to have an informative and fun day without having to make any decisions. Simon was a wealth of knowledge and interesting tidbits and facts about Christchurch, sheep farming, and bits and bobs! We received the most beautiful box lunch and ate in a sweet outdoor country setting. Highly recommend.

Highlights

This small-group tour of about 6 hours departs from Christchurch to visit Glenafric Farm and a winery in Waipara. Enjoy exclusive access to a 770-hectare coastal sheep and cattle farm run by the same family for three generations, watch a sheep-shearing demonstration and working sheepdogs, and, depending on the season, feed the sheep or cuddle a newborn lamb. After a picnic lunch made with local produce at Louise's Lookout overlooking the sea, taste wines at George's Road winery in the Waipara Valley. Pickup is available from major Christchurch accommodation, with a short city sightseeing drive on the way back.

Depart Christchurch and
cross the Canterbury countryside

After pickup from a designated Christchurch accommodation from 9:00 AM, travel through the Canterbury countryside with your local driver-guide. Stop briefly at a secret spot for photos on the way to Glenafric Farm in Waipara. Bottled water, Kiwi snacks and Wi-Fi are provided on board.

Experience New Zealand farm life at Glenafric Farm

Enjoy exclusive access to a working 770-hectare coastal sheep and cattle farm overlooking the South Pacific, run by the same family for three generations. Be welcomed by farmer James Hoban and his family, hear stories of farm life, and watch a sheep-shearing demonstration and highly trained sheepdogs at work.

Depending on the season, hand-feed friendly sheep and cuddle newborn lambs. Explore the historic woolshed, learn about the farm's geological features and see a collection of vintage tractors and equipment.

Enjoy a picnic lunch with sea views at Louise's Lookout

Enjoy a grazing platter picnic lunch made with fresh local produce at Louise's Lookout with stunning sea views. Dietary requirements can be catered for, and your guide shares insights into Glenafric's landscape and farming history.

Taste wines at a Waipara Valley winery

At George's Road winery in the Waipara Valley, taste local wines such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Syrah while enjoying views of the Three Deans range. You can also arrange to have your favourite wines shipped home.

On the way back to Christchurch, enjoy a short sightseeing drive past city highlights such as the Botanic Gardens, the Avon River and the Arts Centre before drop-off.
