About the Host

Highlights

This private tour of about 3 hours takes you away from the city lights of Christchurch to a spot chosen for stargazing and night photography. You are picked up anywhere in the Christchurch area and travel by jeep/SUV to the viewing site. On clear nights, you can see countless stars and constellations, and the Milky Way depending on the season and weather. Your guide picks viewing and photo spots based on the weather and visibility and shares photography tips so you can capture the night sky with your camera or smartphone.

Program

Get picked up in Christchurch and
leave the city lights behind

Get picked up anywhere in the Christchurch area and travel about 65 minutes by jeep/SUV to the viewing site. The tour runs as a private group for your party only.

Look for stars and the Milky Way in the dark sky

Spend about 50 minutes at a viewing site with beautiful surroundings, ideal for night photography. On clear evenings, countless stars and constellations fill the dark sky, and you may see the Milky Way depending on the season and weather.

Capture the night sky with tips from your guide

Photograph the night sky and starry landscapes with your camera or smartphone. Your guide helps you find the best viewpoints and photo spots based on weather and visibility and shares photography tips. Afterwards, travel about 65 minutes back to Christchurch.

※ Stars and the Milky Way are natural phenomena, so sightings are not guaranteed.
※ The exact location may vary depending on weather, cloud cover, visibility and local conditions.
※ If the tour cannot run due to poor weather or visibility, you will receive a full refund.
