From Christchurch: Waipara Three-Winery Wine Tasting Tour - Hotel Pickup

the Waipara Valley

After pickup from designated hotels in central Christchurch and near the airport, travel north for about an hour across the Canterbury Plains in a Mercedes Sprinter (or similar) with Wi-Fi and USB charging. Part of the North Canterbury wine region, Waipara is known for its cool, dry, sunny climate and long growing season. Your guide shares stories about the area in English along the way.

Start your tastings at
Georges Road Wines

Your first stop is Georges Road Wines, a family-run boutique vineyard on the sunny western slopes of the Waipara Valley. Spend about an hour tasting Syrah, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris made from locally grown grapes.

Enjoy tastings and a platter lunch
at Waipara Springs

Spend about 1.5 hours at Waipara Springs, a family-owned winery established in 1989. At the cellar door, taste Dry Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all grown and bottled on site.

Enjoy a platter lunch made with seasonal ingredients at the winery restaurant set among the vines. Platters include fresh salads, cold meats, cheese and bread, and custom platters can be prepared for dietary requirements on request.

Finish at Torlesse Wines and
return to Christchurch

Finally, spend about an hour at Torlesse Wines in the heart of the North Canterbury wine region, tasting aromatic whites such as Gewurztraminer and Riesling as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Verdelho and port-style wines. After the tastings, drive about an hour back to designated drop-off points in Christchurch.
