Depart Auckland and
head to Te Puia in Rotorua

After pickup from your selected hotel in central Auckland, you travel to Rotorua through the Waikato countryside, with a short coffee stop on the way. The tour runs in a small group, and your driver-guide provides live English commentary throughout the day.

See geysers and Māori culture at Te Puia

At Te Puia, you explore the geothermal reserve on a guided tour of about 90 minutes. See the daily eruptions of Pōhutu Geyser up close, along with bubbling mud pools, steaming vents and colorful geothermal landscapes, and learn how the forces of nature shaped this unique environment.

At the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, you can see master carvers and weavers keeping traditional techniques alive. Then watch a 30-minute cultural performance featuring the haka, waiata (songs) and traditional storytelling on a carved marae (Māori meeting ground).

Enjoy a hāngī buffet lunch cooked with geothermal steam

After the guided experience, enjoy a traditional hāngī buffet lunch at Pātaka Kai Restaurant. Hāngī is a Māori feast cooked with natural geothermal steam, offering a true taste of Rotorua.

Walk the Redwoods forest and return to Auckland

After lunch, spend about an hour in the Redwoods (Whakarewarewa Forest). Follow peaceful trails surrounded by native ferns and birdsong, and walk beneath California redwoods, some more than 100 years old, with plenty of photo opportunities.

After a 15-minute photo stop at Lake Rotorua, you pass the Government Gardens and drive back to Auckland. Sit back and relax on the scenic ride home.
