Depart from the Rotorua i-SITE
and head to the lake
Meet the Taiao Adventures team at the Rotorua i-SITE in central Rotorua and hear about the evening ahead. After a 25-minute shuttle ride to the lake, gear up and receive a safety briefing tailored to your group.
Paddle across the lake at dusk
and rest on a lakeside beach
As you paddle across the lake, watch the colors change as the day fades. Your first stop is a secluded lakeside beach reachable only by water, where you get out of your kayak to enjoy local Kiwi snacks and hot tea.
Find glowworms
in a hidden cave after dark
Paddle along the shore to a hidden cave that comes alive after dark. Inside, thousands of glowworms light up the walls, and your guide gives you quiet time to take it in and answers your questions.
If the sky is clear, paddle back under the stars and the Milky Way stretching over the lake. After helping pack up the gear, your guide takes you back to Rotorua.
