Kanazawa Castle was the residence of the Maeda family, lords of the Kaga Domain, and has been operated as a city park, Kanazawa Castle Park, since 2001. With this ticket, you can explore the interiors of Hishi Yagura, Gojikken Nagaya, Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura and Hashizume-mon, all restored using traditional wooden construction methods. The three-tiered, three-story Hishi Yagura and Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura are linked by the two-tiered, two-story Gojikken Nagaya, so you can see the framework of the castle buildings from the inside. You can also view exhibits showing the building structure, CG footage, various models and excavated artifacts.

Hishi Yagura, Gojikken Nagaya, Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura and Hashizume-mon are historic buildings of Kanazawa Castle restored using traditional wooden frame construction. The two-tiered, two-story Gojikken Nagaya stretches between the three-tiered, three-story Hishi Yagura and Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura, and you can walk through the buildings to see their interiors.

Together with Hashizume-mon, one of the three main gates of Kanazawa Castle, these buildings protected Ninomaru in times of war. Stone-drop openings (ishi-otoshi), lattice windows used as gun ports, fire-resistant white plaster walls and namako walls show how solidly the castle was built for defense.

Inside, you can see the exposed structure of the building along with CG footage, various models and artifacts from archaeological excavations. Opening hours are 09:00-16:30 every day, with last entry at 16:00.
