Seal carving is a craft that blends calligraphy, drawing and engraving to tell your own story on a small stone. At this workshop in Euljiro, Seoul, you'll design and carve your name in Hangul with an instructor and finish a one-of-a-kind stone seal. The class lasts about 1.5 hours with up to 5 participants.

Start by practicing with the engraving tools

First, learn how to use the engraving tools by carving a simple drawing or pattern on the side of the stone. Getting a feel for carving stone beforehand makes engraving your name much easier.

Design and carve your Hangul name in your own style

After practicing, design your Hangul name to reflect your personality and style. Start with thin lines and gradually widen the strokes, focusing calmly on the lines your fingertips follow as you complete your seal.

Take your finished seal home as a souvenir

The seal you designed and carved yourself comes with a seal case and an ink pad. You'll also receive a postcard featuring beautiful Korean scenery, and water, juice and light snacks are provided during the class.
