covered with 4,800 glass tiles
This glass art museum is housed in a converted old factory building. Its exterior is decorated with more than 4,800 glass tiles, and a giant metal-mesh peony rises above the facade. By day the building looks calm and refined, and after sunset it shimmers with flowing light.

Follow 2,500 years of glassmaking history

The collection shows the development of glass craftsmanship over 2,500 years. The Ancient Glass Gallery displays artifacts from the Warring States period to the Ming and Qing dynasties, where delicate glass beads and ancient ritual vessels reveal the aesthetics and skills of people of the past. In the International Gallery, you can admire glass works from Venice, the Czech Republic and other parts of the world.
Meet the Thousand-Hand Guanyin on the third floor

The third floor houses the museum's treasure, the Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin. Inspired by the Dunhuang murals, the work features a translucent glass lotus pedestal and multimedia projections of flying apsaras. Each glass piece, shaped in flames of thousands of degrees, shows a translucent texture and soft gradient colors.
Visit the glass workshop and gift shop

Thanks to carefully designed lighting, light passes through the glass to create vivid colors, making every space a great photo spot. On the first floor, the glass workshop and gift shop let you watch glass craft techniques up close and pick out glass art souvenirs. After your visit, you can walk to nearby Tianzifang and explore the shikumen lanes of old Shanghai.
