From Fukuyama: Tomonoura Historic Port Town Private Tour

Meet your local Japanese guide at Fukuyama Station (or the pier where your cruise ship arrives) and travel together by bus to Tomonoura, about 30 minutes away. The itinerary can be customized in advance.

Stroll traditional lanes and the old port

Walk through narrow traditional streets, take photos at scenic viewpoints, and visit the Ota Family Residence (Otake Jutaku) with your guide. Take a short break around the Joyato lighthouse and enjoy the calm sea views and the atmosphere of the coastal town.

Visit temples and viewpoints

Visit Fukuzenji Temple Taichoro with your guide, and depending on the itinerary, you may also stop by nearby temples and shrines such as Enpukuji, Ioji, Amidaji and Mutsu Inari Shrine. There is also time to try local food or enjoy coffee and lunch at a local restaurant (meals at your own expense).

See the scenery loved by Ghibli fans

Tomonoura is known as the place where Hayao Miyazaki stayed before making "Ponyo." Listen to your guide as you explore the seaside town that inspired the film, then return to Fukuyama by bus at the end of the tour. If you wish, you can also stop by the Fukuyama Castle Museum.
