This is an approx. 7-hour tour with an English-speaking guide and a driver. After pickup from your hotel or apartment in Central Jakarta, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the National Monument, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral, Glodok Chinatown, Old Batavia and Sunda Kelapa Harbor. Rising in the heart of Jakarta, the National Monument (Monas) is a symbol of Indonesian independence. Explore it with your guide for about 1.5 hours and look out over the city skyline from the observation deck. Then visit the Istiqlal Mosque and Jakarta Cathedral to feel the religious diversity and multicultural history of the city.

Walk through the history of Chinatown and Old Batavia

In Glodok Chinatown, browse a local market and visit the Jin De Yuan Temple. In Old Batavia (Kota Tua), start at Fatahillah Square, the heart of the old town, stroll past historic buildings and enjoy some free time.

At a wayang puppet studio, meet a puppet master, learn how traditional Indonesian puppets are made and performed, and see a wayang collection from various regions of Indonesia.

Finish the tour at the old Sunda Kelapa Harbor

Pass the Kota Intan Bridge with views of the old harbor area, then arrive at Sunda Kelapa Harbor, a reminder of Jakarta's maritime history. See the traditional wooden schooners known as "pinisi" and the busy docks before returning to your hotel.
