We booked this last minute and ended up being the only ones so we got our own private tour and had an amazing time. Sam was our guide and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He is super knowledgeable about local flora and fauna and was constantly pointing out different insects and plants we never would have noticed. He is very kind and passionate about nature which made spending the day with him so enjoyable. Even when it started dumping rain in the afternoon it was smiles and laughs.

Trotz extremen Regen, hatten wir ein tollen Tag im Nationalpark und einen super Guide, der sehr fürsorglich war und uns leckere Lunchpakete zubereitet hat. Er hat uns viel interessantes facts zum park und viel über Natur und Tiere erzählt. Sehr interessant! Und obendrein haben wir noch Affen in den Bäumen gesehen.

Highlights

Spend a day trekking in Bach Ma National Park, a biodiversity reserve in central Vietnam about 40 km from Hue. Reach Hai Vong Dai, the 1,450 m summit of Bach Ma Mountain, and enjoy tea and coffee while looking out over Cau Hai Lagoon, Hai Van Pass and Lang Co Beach. In the afternoon, trek through the forest past the Five Lakes, swim and have a picnic lunch at Lake 3, then walk to Do Quyen Waterfall, which is more than 300 m high. Hue hotel pickup and drop-off, entrance fees and an English-speaking guide are included.

Trek Bach Ma National Park
on a day trip from Hue

Pickup from your hotel in Hue starts at 7:30 AM, and an air-conditioned vehicle takes you to Bach Ma National Park. After visiting the park gallery house, you trek to the summit of Bach Ma Mountain, the Five Lakes and Do Quyen Waterfall. You head back around 4 PM along the same route and arrive at your Hue hotel between 5 and 6 PM. An English and Vietnamese-speaking guide accompanies you, and entrance fees, a picnic lunch, 2 bottles of water, tea and coffee are included.

Climb to the 1,450 m Bach Ma summit

The vehicle stops at kilometer 12 of the Bach Ma pass road, and you walk about 500 m (around 15 minutes) through the forest to bypass a damaged section. You then walk another 7 km or go by motorbike to reach Hai Vong Dai, the summit of Bach Ma Mountain.

At the top, enjoy tea, coffee and fresh air, and take in the clouds over the mountains and villages and distant views of Cau Hai Lagoon, Hai Van Pass, Lang Co Beach and Chan May Port.

Pass the Five Lakes and rest at Lake 3

From kilometer 17, continue trekking into the Bach Ma forest to explore the cool Five Lakes. Stop at Lake 3 to swim, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch. Vegetarian lunch is available.

Walk to the 300 m Do Quyen Waterfall

After lunch and a rest, continue trekking to the majestic Do Quyen Waterfall, more than 300 m high. After the waterfall, you set off back to Hue around 4 PM and the tour ends at your hotel.
