Create a wood carving with a master artisan
in Go Noi Village near Hoi An

This is a 3-hour wood carving workshop at Woodart Vietnam, a studio in peaceful Go Noi Village about 30 minutes from Hoi An Old Town. After a short tour of the studio and galleries, you will carve a wooden block into a picture frame, spoon, hairpin or necklace under the guidance of an artisan. All tools and materials and bottled water are included, and you can take your finished piece home.

Admire wood carvings by two generations of artisans

When you arrive, an artist will give you a short tour of two art spaces. First, visit the mini museum of the father, a national artist, where large wood sculptures bring Vietnamese history and culture to life.

The next room displays the son’s modern sculptures, including carvings of anime, Marvel, Naruto, Dragon Ball and Iron Man characters. You can also explore an outdoor wood art garden that blends tradition and modern style.

Carve your own piece at the riverside class area

After the quick tour of the workshop, move to the riverside class area, with green corn fields across the river and mountains in the distance. The artisan shows you step by step how to carve with a chisel, and you carve your chosen design, such as a flower or an animal, into the wood. If you get stuck, the artisans will help you right away.

Take your creation home as a souvenir

When the class ends, you can take the piece you carved home with you. It makes a one-of-a-kind souvenir of your trip to Hoi An.
