This was a lovely day out! We got to do so many things like ride and feed the buffalo, feed the ducks, catch fish, cook food, play in the waterfall etc. Not only that, but the guide was so informative on the local area, facts, and wildlife. We also got to get to know the family pets and play with the puppies and kittens which was adorable! The kitten even sat in our lap at dinner. Overall a really local, authentic, and enjoyable experience. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time, great memories for our kid, loads of great photos and a unforgetable experience. We really enjoyed fishing and planting rice, and the cooking class is a great introduction to vietnamese cuisine (and the authentic food is delicious) ! Overall highly recommend !

Both my brother and I had the most fun fishing, feeding the animals, riding a buffalo, and planting rice. We made our Asian ancestors proud when we were given a 10/10 on our rice planting. Honestly, it was one of the most rewarding experiences that we have done on our trip to Vietnam.

Highlights

This group experience at Buffalo Cave near Tam Coc, Ninh Binh lets you live a day in the life of a local farmer. Feed and bathe a water buffalo before riding on its back, then catch fish with locals using the traditional bamboo tool called "nom". After planting rice the Vietnamese way in the paddy, rinse off at a waterfall and visit Buffalo Cave. Finish with a cooking class led by the Buffalo Cave chef, where you make Vietnamese dishes and share a meal.

Spend the day at Buffalo Cave
living the life of a Vietnamese farmer

Meet at Buffalo Cave at 8:30 AM for this group experience with an English-speaking guide: buffalo care and riding, fishing, rice planting, a visit to the waterfall and cave, and a cooking class. The experience ends at around 1:30 PM.

Feed a water buffalo and ride on its back

From 9:00 AM, feed and bathe a water buffalo, then climb onto its back with help from locals. Get a close look at the role buffalo play on a rural farm.

Catch fish with traditional tools and plant rice

At around 9:30 AM, catch fish with locals using the "nom", a traditional woven bamboo tool. Then step into the paddy and plant rice the Vietnamese way to try a farmer's work for yourself.

At around 10:30 AM, rinse off at a waterfall and visit Buffalo Cave.

Cook and eat Vietnamese dishes with the chef

From 11:00 AM, join a cooking class with the Buffalo Cave chef, make Vietnamese dishes and share the meal together.
