This private tour starts with pickup from your accommodation in a retro VW jeep. You drive up to Mount Batur past rice terraces, forests and traditional villages, then visit a viewpoint, the black lava fields, a lounge, a natural hot spring and a coffee plantation. The tour lasts about 8 hours.

Look over the caldera from Penelokan viewpoint

Stop at the Penelokan viewpoint, which offers wide views of Mount Batur, the caldera and Lake Batur. Then continue to the rim of the ancient caldera, a huge crater formed thousands of years ago, and admire the rugged volcanic terrain.

Drive across black lava fields and climb a lava hill

The jeep heads into the black lava fields, formed by lava from Mount Batur's eruptions that has hardened over time. From the top of a lava hill you get panoramic mountain views, and you may spot monkeys in the trees along the crater rim. Your guide explains the volcano's history and how the landscape was formed.

Relax at the lounge and a natural hot spring

After exploring, relax at the Mount Batur Lounge with clean modern facilities and showers, enjoying tea or coffee with mountain views. Then move on to a natural hot spring near Lake Batur and soak in the warm mineral water.

Finally, stop at a local coffee plantation to see how Balinese coffee is grown and processed, taste luwak coffee and herbal tea, and return to your accommodation.
