Cooking class was held in the mountainous area of Sidemen, very peaceful and quiet. Very sustainable cooking - ingredients from the nature (literally!) and the waste throw back into the forest. Even the fire was using woods from the forest. The food was delicious and definitely authentic. Highly recommended! Very interactive and engaging host with is knowledgeable and funny!

This small-group cooking class takes place on about one hectare of forested land on the slopes of Sidemen in Karangasem, East Bali. Over four hours, you will make five Balinese dishes in a way that revives 1920s Balinese cooking traditions. Cook five traditional Balinese dishes
in a forest kitchen in Sidemen

This is the Mystery Mountain Cooking Class held at Bird Hills Bali in Sidemen. From 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, you will learn five Balinese dishes in a forest kitchen and taste what you made. Classes run in small groups of up to 6 people, and the instructor speaks English and Indonesian.

Cook on one hectare of forested land

The class takes place on about one hectare of land in Sidemen, regarded as a sacred mountain in Karangasem, Bali. In an outdoor kitchen surrounded by forest, you will cook in a way that revives 1920s Balinese culinary traditions.

Learn step by step from a local chef

An experienced local chef demonstrates every step from preparing the ingredients to finishing each dish. All cooking equipment is provided, so you simply follow the chef and make each dish yourself.

Enjoy the five dishes you made

At the end of the class, enjoy the five Balinese dishes you cooked. The menu is not revealed in advance, and vegetarian or vegan options are available on request.
