This early bird tour sets out from Koh Tao in the early morning so you can snorkel in calm, clear water before other tour boats arrive. On a wooden boat you visit four bays in turn, Tanote Bay, Freedom Beach, Ao Leuk and Shark Bay, to see coral reefs and tropical fish, and with luck sea turtles or blacktip sharks. Head out to Koh Tao's quiet morning sea
before the crowds
After an early pickup from your hotel, you board a wooden boat to start the tour. The crew hands out snorkeling gear and gives a safety briefing, and you can enjoy freshly brewed coffee and tea with a light breakfast of croissants and buns on board. You reach the first bay before other tour boats arrive and start snorkeling in a peaceful setting.
Meet the coral reefs at Tanote Bay and Freedom Beach
The first snorkeling spot is Tanote Bay, known for its clear water and coral gardens. Swim slowly over reefs full of tropical fish, and with luck you may meet a sea turtle. Next you move to Freedom Beach, with the granite formation known locally as Laem Pho Ta To. Its shallow reef and open sea views are great for swimming, snorkeling and photos.
Look for marine life at Ao Leuk and Shark Bay
Ao Leuk is where emerald water meets coral reefs, and blacktip sharks are sometimes seen swimming in deeper water. Finally, you snorkel at Shark Bay, known for shallow, clear water where sea turtles often appear, before cruising back.
Meals on board and underwater photos included
During the tour you get drinking water, Thai herbal juice, fresh fruit and a packed lunch, with vegetarian options available. Underwater photos are included, and the large boat has a toilet plus towels and fresh water for an on-board shower. Both beginners and experienced snorkelers can join with the guide.
