From Strasbourg: Black Forest Small Group Day Trip - Gengenbach and Open Air Museum

Ride a van from Strasbourg
to the German Black Forest in one day

Meet your guide at the Lufthansa bus stop near Strasbourg train station and travel to the German Black Forest in a comfortable van. You visit the medieval town of Gengenbach, the Vogtsbauernhof Open Air Museum and the lake Mummelsee in turn.

The group is limited to 7 people, and an English-speaking guide stays with you all day. The tour lasts about 9 hours.

Stroll through the medieval town of Gengenbach

Gengenbach is a medieval town known for its half-timbered houses, Baroque town hall, cobbled streets and balconies with flowers.

During about 1 hour of free time, you can walk the old town, have coffee on a terrace, browse artisan shops or photograph the former Benedictine abbey.

See old farmhouses at the Vogtsbauernhof Open Air Museum

At the open air museum in a green valley, you see Black Forest farmhouses from the 1600s to the 1800s. With traditional furniture, workshops such as a blacksmith and a potter, barns and farm animals, it suits all ages.

You explore the museum at your own pace for about 3 hours and have lunch at a traditional restaurant, a snack stand or a picnic table. The museum ticket is included in the price.

Drive the Black Forest High Road to Mummelsee

Along the Black Forest High Road (Schwarzwaldhochstraße), you arrive at Mummelsee, a small glacial lake surrounded by pine trees and legends.

During about 1 hour, you can walk around the lake, try Black Forest cake or browse souvenirs such as cuckoo clocks, ceramics and homemade jam.
