Choose one of the pickup points in Abisko when you book, and the tour ends at one of the same 4 locations.
Taste Sami reindeer meat in a barbecue hut
The tour begins in a barbecue hut below Abisko Guesthouse. In the Sami way, meat and vegetables called suovas are cooked over a fire on a large plate in the middle of the room. Suovas is made from lightly smoked reindeer meat, and you can try other traditional reindeer meat products while the main dish cooks.
While the food cooks, your guide tells you about the Sami people of Sweden and local history. You can sit in the warm hut and keep an eye on the sky for the aurora. A vegetarian option is available, and most special diets can be accommodated.
Travel by van to the aurora viewing spots
After dinner, you take a minibus to places that are good for watching and photographing the northern lights. When the aurora appears, the van stops right away and you always get plenty of time to take photos. Your guide helps you take great photos with your own camera. The aurora can take a while to appear, so it helps to be patient.
