A guide experienced in aurora chasing checks the local weather and aurora forecast to choose the best place for the night, and you travel up to 100 km round trip by vehicle. Warm drinks are provided.
Travel to a spot with a record of aurora sightings
The guide picks one of several locations known for good aurora sightings. Many of them are by lakes and rivers, so in winter you may be able to see the aurora in the sky and its reflection on the smooth ice. The aurora is a natural phenomenon, and there are nights when it is not visible.
Listen to stories over a warm drink
While you wait, the guide talks about the aurora and the history of Abisko National Park and serves warm drinks. There is also time for photos and scenic viewpoints along the way. Camera equipment is not included, so bring your own if you want to take photos.
Back to your accommodation after the tour
When the tour ends, you are dropped off at a drop-off point near the accommodation where you were picked up. Pick-ups run stop by stop between 8:00 and 8:30 PM. Pick-up is not available from Kiruna.

Pick-up times: Hotell Fjället and Kåppas Cabins in Björkliden at 8:00 PM, STF Abisko Turiststation at 8:15 PM, and Abisko Guesthouse, Abisko Fjällturer (Abisko.net) and Abisko Mountain Lodge between 8:15 and 8:30 PM.
Pick-up is not available from Kiruna.
