Wear hanbok and learn
Hangul calligraphy near City Hall Station
This is a small-group class of about 2 hours at a studio near Seoul City Hall Station, where you wear hanbok and write Hangul with a brush. You start with hanbok and tea, watch the instructor explain and demonstrate, practice the strokes, and then complete your own piece on hanji paper. The class is taught in English with up to 10 participants.
Enjoy traditional tea and hangwa in hanbok

The session begins with putting on hanbok. While you enjoy Korean traditional tea and hangwa sweets, the instructor introduces the history and philosophy of Korean brush writing and how strokes are built. Hanbok wearing and photos are included.
Watch a demonstration and learn how to hold the brush

Before you pick up a brush, the instructor demonstrates how ink and breath come together in a single stroke. You then learn the basic strokes, the structure of Hangul letters, and how to hold and move the brush correctly. The instructor checks your grip and hand position, and you work at your own pace.
Write your own piece and add a seal

Choose a word or message that is meaningful to you and write it on hanji paper one stroke at a time with the instructor’s guidance. When you finish, you stamp your fingerprint and a seal to complete the piece. A custom seal and bojagi gift wrapping are included, so you can take your artwork home.
