In this workshop of about 2 hours at "Weekend Yakbang", a small-group venue in Daehangno, Seoul, a certified herbal pharmacist introduces hanbang, Korea's traditional herbal culture, through tea. Look at the herbs, taste a base tea, then create your own blend to take home. The group is limited to 5 people, and the instructor teaches in English and Korean.

See, smell and taste seasonal herbs

The class begins with an introduction to hanbang and what seasonal ingredients mean in everyday Korean life. Look at carefully selected herbs one by one and hear the cultural stories behind each. Learn about the traditional Korean understanding of the body in relation to the changing seasons, and smell, touch and taste the ingredients to experience their distinct aromas and flavors.

Create a blend to suit your taste

First taste a base tea inspired by the season and learn how ingredients come together in a balanced blend. With the host's guidance, choose additional ingredients that suit your taste, then measure and combine them yourself to make your own blend. All ingredients and equipment are provided.

Brew your tea and take the blend home

Brew tea with your finished blend and enjoy it calmly with the small group. At the end of the workshop, your blend is packed so you can take it home as a souvenir of Seoul.
