At your booked time, meet the host holding a purple Royale Routes flag in Piazza della Città Leonina. The host explains the security check, the dress code and the fastest way in, then guides you to the right entrance so you can go in with the audio guide already running on your phone. The visit takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Once inside, the basilica's nave opens up before you. Admire Michelangelo's Pietà behind glass, and look up at Bernini's bronze baldachin (Baldacchino) above the papal altar and the dome rising more than 130 m above it.
