I went during the rainy season in February, so I booked it late the night before. I wanted to snorkel at Fitzroy Island and chose the plan that included lunch. It was the cheapest and best value compared to Japanese websites, and the timing was perfect, not too early in the morning. The lunch included two sandwiches, a muffin, short pasta, salad, and nuts, which was a lot and very satisfying. The taste was also delicious. I recommend it.

I'm not a great swimmer but was able to snorkel in shallow water near the shore and saw a great number of fish and coral.

absolutely loved it! Stunning Island, my first time snorkeling was a great experience, well done instructions on the ferry and nice staff, yummy food.

What a fantastic destination. The snorkelling was incredible, easily accessible for anyone, all abilities. So much to see. Two great beaches can be accessed in your stay but you could also do hikes and enjoy the stunning views. The lunch included was delicious, great selection. You can also buy food and drinks there, not unreasonably priced. The boat ride was not too long and very calm. I’d definitely recommend this trip, great value for money, cheaper than a day to the barrier reef and less time. Not as crowded either.

Return boat transfers and access to the national park trails and beaches are included in every option, and you can choose a package combining a picnic lunch, snorkel gear and a glass-bottom boat ride. Snorkel straight off the beach or walk to Nudey Beach and the rainforest trails to enjoy the island at your own pace. With a choice of 8:45 AM or 10:10 AM departures, it is easy to fit into your schedule.

Depart from the Reef Fleet Terminal
and cross to Fitzroy Island

Check in at the Sunlover Cruises counter in the Reef Fleet Terminal at Cairns Marlin Marina and board the boat. Depending on the departure time you booked, you leave Cairns at 8:45 AM or 10:10 AM and arrive at Fitzroy Island about 55 minutes later. On the island you have 5+ or 4+ hours of free time, depending on your departure time.

Discover the underwater world by beach snorkeling and glass-bottom boat

You can snorkel straight off the beach. Choose an option that includes snorkel gear or a glass-bottom boat to explore underwater with rental gear or view the coral from the boat. If rented snorkel gear is not returned or is damaged, you will be charged the replacement cost at the end of the tour.

Walk the rainforest trails and relax on the beach

Stroll to Nudey Beach or explore national park rainforest trails such as the Secret Garden, Lighthouse Road and Summit Trail at your own pace without a guide. Go for a swim or relax on the beach and enjoy the island's natural beauty.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the island

Options with a picnic lunch include a standard lunch box of chicken baguette, muffin and fruit (contains gluten, dairy and nuts). It can be changed to vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy/lactose-free, nut allergy, onion/garlic allergy, egg-free or halal at no extra cost, with requests required by 5:00 PM the day before your trip. You leave the island at 3:30 PM and arrive back at the Cairns marina at 4:30 PM.

※ A guided snorkel tour, guided rainforest walk and turtle rehabilitation centre visit (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) are not included and may be purchased on the day, subject to availability.

Check-in is at the Sunlover Cruises counter inside the Reef Fleet Terminal at Cairns Marlin Marina. You cannot board without collecting your ticket from Sunlover Cruises. Unless otherwise advised, check in from 7:45 to 8:15 AM for the 8:45 AM departure, or from 8:45 to 9:45 AM for the 10:10 AM departure. Late check-in means you will miss the tour without a refund.
