BESTIt was so cool!!!!
The Palace of Versailles, located approximately 22km southwest of downtown Paris, is a palace built during the Bourbon Dynasty of the Kingdom of France. It is considered a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and is not only splendid, but also shows the extent of Louis XIV's powerful power at the time.
In particular, the interior of the palace is extravagant, as if there is no place more luxurious than this, and it is also famous for having more gardens than the area of the palace building. It is one of the best attractions in France where you can enjoy seeing the Grand Trianon Palace and the Lesser Trianon Palace, which are separate palaces.
Versailles Palace and gardens,
Check out the temporary exhibition and Trianon.
The word ‘magnificence’ is synonymous with the Palace of Versailles. Just one look at this magnificent palace and you will see why.
If we travel to France, we must see the luxurious interior of the Palace of Versailles and meet Marie Antoinette's Hamlet! The opulence is most evident in the 75-meter-long ballroom lined with statues and busts. There are 17 arched windows, each decorated with 21 individual mirrors. This means that light will be reflected from a total of 357 mirrors!
The Palace of Versailles is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in France, so be sure to see it!
How to get to the Palace of Versailles, I recommend it
To visit the Palace of Versailles, the best way is to take the RER C line. RER C connects the Orsay Museum to Versailles, so I personally recommend going to the Orsay Museum and then going to Versailles.
At this time, it is best to install the 'City Mapper' transportation app to check the exact train time. You can check when the train is coming through the app, board it, and get off at Versailles Palace station to see the palace right away.
Operating hours vary for each facility!
The Palace of Versailles has many things to see, including not only the palace, but also the Trianon residence and gardens. But the fact is that they all have different opening times! Did you know?
The palace and Trianon Palace are open every day except Mondays. The palace opens at 9 a.m., but the Trianon Palace opens at 12 noon.
Parks and gardens are also open daily. The garden is open to entry except on days when there are fountain shows and music gardens. (As of 2023, during the summer period, the Musical Fountain Show is scheduled every weekend, the Musical Garden is scheduled from Tuesday to Friday, and the Fountain Night Show is scheduled every Saturday night and Thursday, July 14th / Monday, August 15th) So I visited. You need to check in advance what events are happening on the day! To check at your convenience, please go here to receive operational information.
Enjoy the Palace of Versailles with more fun
Once you enter the Palace of Versailles, there is a way to listen to a Korean guide for free. (WAUG admission ticket - includes device download audio guide) Just install the Palace app right away.
As long as you have the Palace app and earphones, we will introduce the must-see places along with an explanation of the Palace of Versailles. There is also an audio guide inside the Palace of Versailles, so you can choose one of the two.
Following in Marie Antoinette's footsteps
If the person who built the Palace of Versailles was Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette, who made it fit her lifestyle, is also very important. The bedroom in particular is a great place to follow in her footsteps. Marie Antoinette used this bedroom from 1770 to 1789, and the amazing thing is that it was all open, so people in the palace could witness everything that happened here, from the queen's morning awakening to her childbirth.
It's even more fun to see the Palace of Versailles while considering Marie Antoinette's footsteps.
Take a walk around the Grand Trianon Villa
After Louis XV passed away, Marie Antoinette received the Grand Trianon villa from Louis XVI. So she became the first queen to own real estate. Afterwards, she decorated the villa through extensive renovations and changed it to the British-Chinese style that was popular at the time. Also, the surrounding area is very nice for a walk, so you can get a glimpse of her taste.
A proof photo is essential in the garden.
When viewed from a distance, the entire garden is splendid and grand, but when you walk through it, the garden is full of details. So there are so many good points for taking pictures. Be sure to choose a day when there is no fountain show to see the garden. You can't say you've seen the Palace of Versailles if you miss the gardens.
