BESTWhen I arrived between 11:30 am and 12:00 am local time on weekends, there were few people, so there was no difference between the QR code and the ticket. However, around 2:30, when I came out after looking around, the line was even outside the building. If you plan to visit in the afternoon, it is better to buy a QR unconditionally, and if you are going to visit in the morning, just go with the ticket. Wow, it's the building I was looking forward to the most during my trip, and I really liked it enough to meet that expectation. The review said that I watched it for about 1 hour, so I thought about 1.5 hours and made a schedule.. I watched 3 hours with a friend haha. It's really gorgeous, and there's an audio guide (6.5€, in Korean), so I recommend you to see it. If there are 3 or less people in the group, it would be nice to rent one person and take turns listening to it every time you move. The explanation for each space is only 1-2 minutes, but you have to wait in line for a while at the spot to take pictures in turn anyway. The two of us are taking pictures, but it's burdensome, it's inconvenient to go to the bathroom, and the tablet is quite large and heavy... Anyway, I really liked the building itself!! Really must go!! The building is so pretty that it would be reasonable to take a picture with a phone camera (LG). Architecturally worth seeing!
The most gorgeous in the world,
Opera Garnier
The official name of the Opera Garnier, the 'National Academy of Music-Opera Theater', was designed by French architect Charles Garnier. So it's easy to think that the name Garnier came from. The building is a neo-baroque building, and both the inside and the outside are covered in gorgeous paintings and sculptures. The interior is decorated in gold and the ceiling painting 'Bouquet of Dreams' by Marc Chagall is especially famous.
Also, the Opera Garnier is famous as the place that inspired 'The Phantom of the Opera', and opera and ballet performances are still held at the theater today, so if you want a special experience, it would be great to see a performance.
The world's most spectacular buildings,
Enjoy fast track access to the Opera Garnier
Visit the most magnificent building in Paris, the Opera Garnier. Built during the reign of Napoleon III, the Opera Garnier was named after its designer, Charles Garnier.
Garnier's architecture stands out for its splendidness, especially the grand staircase at the entrance, which is said to have brought out the splendor of marble! Come and see for yourself the façade with its rose-colored marble columns, Baroque statues, and elaborately carved friezes.
I'll tell you how to get to the Opera Garnier.
The Paris Opera Garnier is located in the 9th district of Zone 1 in downtown Paris. The easiest way to get there is by taking the metro station, which is Opéra Station. One of the nice things about the Opera Garnier is that after you visit it, you will be right next to the Lafayette and Petit Palais department stores.
So, after seeing the Opera Garnier, you can go shopping right away.
A story about the Opera Garnier
When you look at the exterior of the Paris Opera Garnier, does anything come to mind? Parisians call the Opera Garnier building the “wedding cake.” The exterior looks a bit like a cake, especially the statues on top, which look like candles.
Inside the building is a performance hall with about 2,106 seats. It is not huge, but it is really magnificent. Performances by Jean-Paliph Rameau, Christophe Balibald Gluck, and Jean-Baptiste Lully have been held here, and to date, more than 600 operas and 300 ballets have been performed.
I'm in love with the more extravagant interior
When you see the interior of the Paris Opera Garnier for yourself, you will understand why it is considered the most magnificent building in Paris. The golden interior, the enormous chandeliers, and the grandeur that goes beyond a castle are truly dazzling.
Also, there are so many gorgeous and wonderful ceiling murals that each one is truly a work of art. If you go inside, you might get a sore neck from looking up at the ceiling!
Little tips from the Opera Garnier
There are still performances at the Opera Garnier. The 'flowers' inside the theater are, no matter what anyone says, the Chagall ceiling painting right above. This work of art cannot be seen at any time. So when can I go see it?
The correct answer is a day when there is no performance. On days when there is a performance, you cannot enter the performance hall due to preparations for the performance. So, I definitely recommend visiting on a day when there is no performance.
If you have a ticket, you can also see the exhibition.
The exhibitions inside the Opera Garnier are also full of things to see beyond your expectations. You can see different exhibitions depending on the theme every time! Most recently, the exhibition on Molière en Musique was held. There are also interesting exhibitions such as The Birth of Opera and Picasso and Dance, so check the exhibition schedule for the day you visit and visit the Opera Garnier.
