Main exhibition information
Mauro's Moon :
Located on a hill near the National Palace of Sintra, the moon-shaped lake originates from a legend associated with a Moorish girl named Mauro.
Mauro tried to run away with the Christian knight she fell in love with, but her father stopped her and turned her into stone. Mauro's tears became a lake.
Legend of Penna Palace :
One of Sintra's most iconic buildings, Penna Palace is associated with many legends.
According to one legend, the palace was originally home to a Moorish princess, who fell in love with a Christian knight. But her father was against this, so the knight attacked the palace and saved the princess.
