Academy Gallery
The Accademia Gallery is a must-see museum in Florence, along with the Uffizi Gallery. Inside the Accademia Gallery, you can see masterpieces by Florentine artists such as Michelangelo, David, and St. Matthew. You can also see Palestrina's Pietà.
The museum is relatively small, so you always have to wait in a long line to get in, but with a fast-track ticket, you can enter safely and immediately without waiting around.
Meet Michelangelo's masterpieces
The Accademia Gallery is famous above all for Michelangelo’s sculptures. His masterpiece, David , stands tall in the center of the museum, captivating visitors from all over the world with its magnificent scale, perfect balance, and delicate expression.
You can also see Michelangelo's unfinished work, the Pieta. The Pieta depicts the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus Christ, and it moves visitors with its deep sorrow and mercy.
Treasures of the Florentine Renaissance
In addition to Michelangelo's works, the Gallerie dell'Accademia also displays works by other artists representing the Florentine Renaissance. Representative works include the Annunciation by Sandro Botticelli , St. George and the Dragon by Paolo Uccello , and the Annunciation by Domenico Ghirlandaio .
