Meet David's Statue,
Accademia Gallery
Famous for being home to Michelangelo's David, the Accademia Gallery is known as one of the best museums in Florence. In addition to David, you can see other sculptures by Michelangelo and a large collection of paintings by Florentine artists from 1300-1600 (from the Trecento to the Late Renaissance).
With 2 million visitors each year, the Accademia Gallery is the second most visited museum in Italy after the Uffizi Gallery.

The Accademia Gallery in Florence, founded in 1563, is one of the must-visit museums in Florence. This is because you can see the works of world-renowned artists such as Michelangelo and Francesco, the best artists Florence has produced. Therefore, it is a must-see attraction when visiting Florence along with the Uffizi Gallery, and it is always crowded with many tourists.
Also, you can see musical instruments at the Accademia Gallery. They started handling the musical instrument collection in 2001, and it houses the collection of the Florence Conservatory 'Luigi Cherubini', among which the tenor viola and cello made by Antonio Stradivari are outstanding. You can also see unique instruments at the museum.
The best viewing point is David's Statue

The highlight of the Accademia Gallery is Michelangelo's David. David was sculpted by Michelangelo at the age of 26 and was originally intended to be erected on the east side of the Duomo Cathedral, but people thought it was too good to be placed in a high place, so it was installed in Piazza della Signoria, the political center of Florence. So Michelangelo modified the human proportions accordingly, and that is the David we can see. It's already been 500 years since this happened, so you can see how talented he was as a sculptor and painter.
Meet the works of the Renaissance, the flower of art

At the Accademia Gallery, you can see the works of famous Renaissance artists at a glance. In addition to David, you can see various paintings, musical instruments, and sculptures.
In the case of sculptures, you can see the works of Brunelleschi and Giambologna in addition to Michelangelo, and in the case of paintings, you can see the works of Botticelli, Fra Bartolomeo, and Filippino Lippi. In addition, at the instrument exhibition, you can see a large number of instruments with historical value in the field of Italian music.
Introducing must-see representative works

If you come to the Accademia Gallery, I will introduce you to works that you should never miss. Even if you don't see anything else, be sure to see the following three works.
1. Giambologna's 'Rape of the Sabine Women':
It is a stone statue that can be seen as soon as you enter, and is a work by Giambologna exhibited in the Colosso-Heehwa Exhibition Hall.
2. Michelangelo's 'David':
No one will leave the Accademia Gallery without seeing this. If you see the overwhelming size of the statue, which is 5m high, you will think that you were right to come to the Accademia!
3. Pacino di Bonaguida's 'Tree of Life':
It is a work from the early 14th century that expresses the cross with Jesus on it as the tree of life, and symbolizes immortality in the Garden of Eden. It is a unique work and must be seen.
Temporary exhibitions are also worth seeing

The Accademia Gallery has a temporary exhibition where special exhibitions are held every quarter. Last year, there was an exhibition on Daniele da Volterra's Michelangelo bronze statue, and in 2016, there was an exhibition on 14th-century Florentine textiles and silk. There are so many exhibitions that are better than expected like this. So, if a temporary exhibition is held, we recommend seeing it together.
