Introducing the stage
This package allows you to choose from two distinct opera experiences presented in two venues. The first option is the "Opera Gala" at the Concert Hall. This performance, lasting approximately two hours and thirty minutes, is a spectacular stage performance featuring highlights of famous, familiar opera arias. The other option is Puccini's masterpiece, "Madame Butterfly," at the John Sutherland Theatre. This complete production lasts two hours and forty minutes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the profound narrative and emotion of the piece. So, choose the experience that best suits your taste, between a splendid gala concert and the profound emotion of a traditional opera.
Performance and fireworks viewing information
The Opera Gala runs for two hours and 30 minutes, including intermission. Enjoy opera performances by renowned Australian singers.
The Madame Butterfly performance lasts a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes, including an intermission. English subtitles are provided, making it easy to understand the opera's story.
Fireworks will be displayed at 9 o'clock, with intervals of approximately 40 minutes.
Things to know when watching fireworks
- You can enjoy a good view of the fireworks from the lobby, but the space outside the balcony has a limited capacity.
- After the performance, only a limited number of people will be allowed to enter the outdoor viewing area. (Entry is permitted with a Midnight Party ticket.)
- The midnight fireworks can be viewed from Southern Foy, inside the Sydney Opera House. However, the Sydney Harbour Bridge may not be visible.
- Please note that the area within the Opera House where you can view the fireworks is limited and it is expected to be very crowded.
