When I came to Yakushima, I always wanted to do the Shiratani Unsuikyo trek. I was excited because it&#39;s the backdrop for Princess Mononoke, but I was truly overwhelmed from the moment I entered the forest. Moss covered the rocks and trees, making it feel like something out of a fantasy movie. The guide stopped here and there to tell us about the ages of the trees and tell us stories, making it feel like I was on a journey rather than just walking. The trail wasn&#39;t as difficult as I thought, and there were plenty of rest stops, so it wasn&#39;t too strenuous.
