Admission to Sengan-en, a Kagoshima garden built in 1658 as a villa of the Shimazu family. Step inside the Residence (Goten), which also served as a guest house for dignitaries from Japan and abroad, and enjoy its beautiful interior and the views of Sakurajima from the building. The vast 50,000 m² grounds are dotted with historical, cultural and natural sights, and admission to the Shoko Shuseikan is also included.

the former Shimazu family villa
Sengan-en was built in 1658 by Mitsuhisa, the 19th head of the Shimazu family, as a villa. Its vast 50,000 m² grounds are dotted with sights related to history, culture and nature. This ticket gives you entry to the garden, the Residence and the Shoko Shuseikan.
See Sakurajima from the Residence that once hosted dignitaries
The Residence temporarily served as the main residence under Tadayoshi, the 29th head, and also hosted dignitaries from Japan and abroad as a guest house. Take in its beautiful interior decorations and the superb view of Sakurajima from the building.
Stroll the garden and visit the Shoko Shuseikan
Walk through the spacious garden at your own pace to see its many sights, and visit the Shoko Shuseikan with the same ticket.

You can go straight to the entrance of Sengan-en. By car, it takes about 20 minutes from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, about 10 minutes from the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal, and about 40 minutes from the Aira IC in the direction of Kagoshima Airport. Paid parking is available and no reservation is required.
