Korean,English,JapaneseIf you're not satisfied with just looking at desserts in Kyoto, try making them yourself and eating them right away. The moment when the mochi you've only seen comes to life in your hands is quite thrilling. The highlight of this experience is traditional rice cake pounding. When you strike the large wooden mortar Usu and mallet Kine with all your might, laughter erupts and stress is relieved in time with the chef's commands. The freshly pounded warm rice cake is as chewy as cheese. Add Kyoto's matcha to this, and a truly Kyoto-style sweet afternoon is complete.

Main Event: Traditional Mochi Pounding Performance
Experience the fun of pounding mochi the traditional way! Put steaming glutinous rice into a large wooden mortar and pound it with a mallet (kine). As you swing and pound to the chef's lively rhythm, the atmosphere heats up and stress melts away.
Freshly pounded mochi is warm, chewy, and stretches like cheese. Making and eating Kyoto desserts with your own hands will be the most memorable moment of this 90-minute experience. You'll also get to wear a traditional happi coat, perfect for photos and videos.
Make 4 Kinds of Chewy Mochi Yourself

Shape the mochi dough with your hands to create 4 different styles. The process isn't difficult, so even beginners can enjoy it. Experience the charm of Kyoto desserts as you make mitarashi dango with its sweet and savory sauce, daifuku with its sweet red bean paste, and mochi ice cream with its refreshing twist. After that, plate your finished mochi beautifully and enjoy it with Kyoto's specialty matcha. This hands-on dessert-making experience is particularly satisfying. Rather than a rigid lesson, you'll interact with the chef and experience Kyoto's traditional dessert culture with all five senses, creating a lasting memory.
