Yellowknife Aurora Hunting Small Group Tour - Hotel Pickup & Photo Support

Let's head into the Yellowknife night sky to find the aurora in a heated vehicle

After pickup from your hotel in Yellowknife city, we'll head out into the dark wilderness outside the city in a heated vehicle. The tour is conducted in small groups for about 4 hours, with guides providing commentary in English and Chinese.

Unlike tours that wait at a fixed location, we move to various spots based on real-time weather and aurora activity, increasing your chances of seeing the lights. We'll return to Yellowknife by vehicle at the end of the tour.

Local guides find the best viewing spots

Our local aurora guides check cloud cover, the aurora KP index, and solar wind activity to select the best locations for observation. We'll typically stop at three different locations, spending about 1 hour, 1 hour, and 30 minutes at each for photos and free time. The exact locations and duration may vary depending on the conditions of the day.

Capture aurora photos with the guide's help

At each stop, you can step out of the vehicle to gaze at the night sky and get help from your guide to take memorable photos. If you wish to take your own photos, bringing a personal tripod is recommended.

Warm up with a hot drink

Between stops, you can enjoy a warm drink and relax inside the heated vehicle. Stay comfortable while waiting for the aurora, even on cold nights.
