Along the way, you'll hear stories about the landscapes, wildlife, and local life of the Northwest Territories.

Depart from Your Yellowknife Accommodation and Hunt for the Aurora
This aurora hunting tour begins with a pickup from your accommodation in downtown Yellowknife, taking you away from the city lights. We travel by shared bus, with departures starting at 9:00 PM. The pickup process, visiting multiple accommodations, may take up to 30 minutes, from 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
The tour operates with 17-seater and 24-seater buses, accommodating up to 41 people in total. The entire experience, including pickup and return travel, lasts approximately 4 hours. You can relax on the bus ride back to your Yellowknife hotel after the tour concludes.
Guides Select the Best Viewing Location for the Night

This is not a fixed-route tour; it's an active pursuit of the aurora. Guides assess the weather, cloud cover, road conditions, and aurora forecast to choose the most suitable location for viewing that night. If conditions are favorable for a better chance of seeing the aurora, we may move to multiple locations.
Depending on the circumstances, we might visit areas such as Ingraham Trail, the Yellowknife River region, Prelude Lake, Pontoon Lake, or, depending on the season, the accessible and safe Detah Ice Road.
Enjoy Warm Drinks and Capture Aurora Photos

When the aurora appears, your guide will assist with basic phone and camera settings, allowing you to capture stunning photos while enjoying the view with your own eyes. Group photos are also available upon request, free of charge. Warm beverages and light snacks will be provided as you gaze at the night sky.
Learn About the Nature and Life of the Northwest Territories

Even on nights when the aurora is faint, you can experience the northern night under the starlight. During the journey, your guide will share stories about the landscapes of the Northwest Territories, local wildlife, and the daily lives of nearby communities. You might even encounter wildlife along the way.
* Aurora sightings are not guaranteed as they are a natural phenomenon.
* Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed as animals live in their natural habitat.
