From Denver: Rocky Mountain National Park Day Tour - Stanley Hotel Visit

Head to Rocky Mountain National Park
via Boulder and Estes Park

Take in panoramic views and red sandstone formations in Boulder, framed by the Flatirons, then continue to Estes Park, the gateway town to Rocky Mountain National Park. Stop at the Stanley Hotel, linked to "The Shining"

Spend about 30 minutes at the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, surrounded by mountain views. Well known for its connection to Stephen King's "The Shining," it is a great spot for photos of the hotel and its surroundings.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at Sprague Lake

Spend about an hour at Sprague Lake with a picnic lunch of a sandwich or salad and chips, relaxing with mountain views across the water. This is a sightseeing tour, not a hike, and includes a short nature walk of about 3/4 mile.

Drive Trail Ridge Road through the alpine tundra

Spend about 2 hours on Trail Ridge Road, stopping at overlooks to admire alpine forests, lakes, and high-altitude tundra. Wildflowers bloom in summer and golden aspens color the landscape in fall. Finally, stop at the Fall River Visitor Center for about 20 minutes before returning to Denver through the foothills around 5:00 PM.
