Depart from Magic Dolphin at Funchal Marina and head out to sea a few miles from Funchal. Look for a variety of wildlife such as dolphins, whales, turtles and seabirds, and when marine life appears, the boat switches to its electric engine to observe quietly without noise or exhaust. Spotters watching the sea from land guide the boat to where the dolphins and whales are.

Enjoy the sea from spacious decks and nets

The boat has two decks, so you can move freely between the upper deck with 360-degree views, the shaded bridge deck and the large nets for watching marine life up close. There are indoor and outdoor seats, two bars selling drinks and snacks, and two wheelchair-accessible toilets. A certified guide shares commentary and fun facts about cetaceans and marine life.

Take in the south coast scenery on the way back

On the return, the boat sails close to the coast past Cabo Girão, known for its high sea cliff, the traditional fishing village of Câmara de Lobos bay, and Reid's Hotel, where Winston Churchill stayed when he visited Madeira. On the 3-hour tour, the boat may stop briefly for a swim depending on weather conditions.
