From Auckland: Hobbiton Movie Set & Rotorua Wai-O-Tapu Day Tour - Small Group

Depart Auckland and

After pickup from your hotel in central Auckland, travel south by comfortable minibus through the rolling hills and farmland of the Waikato. Walk through Middle-earth at the Hobbiton Movie Set

Arrive at the Alexander family sheep farm and The Shire's Rest, the gateway to Hobbiton, and board one of Hobbiton's iconic green buses to the movie set. With an expert Hobbiton guide, explore the roughly 50,000-square-meter set and discover the Shire created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.

Wander among 44 hobbit holes and charming gardens while hearing behind-the-scenes stories, and finish the tour with a complimentary drink at the Green Dragon Inn. You spend about 2.5 hours at Hobbiton.

See the Champagne Pool and
geothermal landscapes at Wai-O-Tapu

Leaving Hobbiton, pass through Tirau, a small town known for its corrugated iron sculptures, and continue along Fitzgerald Glade toward Rotorua.

At Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, spend about 1.5 hours walking the trails among landforms shaped by thousands of years of volcanic activity. See the vivid Champagne Pool, the Devil's Bath and the Devil's Home, as well as bubbling mud pools and steaming craters.

Tour Rotorua and return to Auckland

After Wai-O-Tapu, enjoy a drive past the highlights of Rotorua city before heading back to Auckland. Sit back and relax on the way home. If you book the one-way option, you will be dropped off in Rotorua instead of returning to Auckland.
