After pickup from your preferred location in central Auckland, enjoy a scenic two-hour drive to the Waikato region. There may be a few stops along the way for photos.

You travel in a Mercedes-Benz van with free onboard Wi-Fi, and bottled water and light refreshments are provided throughout the day. On arrival at Hobbiton, you have 30–45 minutes to browse the gift shop or enjoy a drink and snack at the Shire's Rest Café.

Join a 2.5-hour guided tour of a 1,250-acre sheep farm with stunning views of the Kaimai Ranges. Your guide takes you around the 12-acre site, home to hobbit holes, the old mill and the double-arch bridge. Along the way, stop at The Green Dragon Inn for a complimentary drink such as a local craft cider or beer (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

In the afternoon, head to Rotorua to visit Te Puia and explore Te Whakarewarewa, a 60-hectare geothermal valley, on a guided tour. See Pōhutu Geyser and bubbling mud pools up close.

Meet kiwi birds and traditional Māori arts

Visit the kiwi house (Ngā Manu Ahurei) to see kiwi birds, and watch traditional Māori carving and weaving at the wood and stone carving schools. Stroll through a replica pre-European Māori village and sacred marae while learning about Māori art and history. At the end of the day, sit back and relax on the scenic drive back to Auckland.
