At Whakarewarewa – The Living Māori Village, you are welcomed by the local Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people. On a guided village tour, hear how this community has lived in harmony with the steaming land for generations. Walk the geothermal trail among bubbling mud pools, steam vents and geysers while discovering Māori history, traditions and stories.

Watch the haka
and enjoy a hāngī lunch

Enjoy a village cultural performance featuring the traditional haka. Afterwards, savour a traditional hāngī lunch and dessert naturally cooked using geothermal steam.

Walk the Redwoods
and see Rotorua's highlights

Head to the Redwoods (Whakarewarewa Forest) and spend about an hour walking among giant Californian redwoods and native New Zealand bush. Before leaving Rotorua, take a guided driving tour past highlights such as the Government Gardens, Lake Rotorua, Sulphur Point and the Rotorua Museum. Then sit back and relax on the way back to Auckland.
