Day 1: Explore the lakes and town

Departing from Calgary, explore Horseshoe Canyon, which reveals millions of years of geological history, and the hoodoos, sandstone pillars shaped by erosion. At the Royal Tyrrell Museum, with admission included, you see an extensive collection of dinosaur fossils.
You also stop at the 26 m tall T-Rex statue, the Drumheller Suspension Bridge over the Red Deer River and the tiny Little Church. A visit to the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is optional.
