Your guide meets you in your hotel lobby at the scheduled pickup time to start the day. The tour travels by public transportation, first arriving in Asakusa, where the atmosphere of old Tokyo lives on. Stroll the traditional streets around the iconic Senso-ji Temple, its incense-filled grounds and lively alleys to feel the spirit of Edo-era Tokyo.

Walk the lanes of Yanaka
and enjoy lunch at a local eatery

Next, visit Yanaka, one of the few neighborhoods that escaped destruction during the war. Walk among narrow lanes, old wooden houses, small temples and local shops for a rare glimpse of old Tokyo and everyday local life.

At lunchtime, your guide recommends an authentic restaurant popular with locals. Whether a hearty bowl of ramen, a bento made with seasonal ingredients or a neighborhood specialty, it is a chance to eat like a local. Lunch is at your own expense.

Pass through Meiji Jingu and Harajuku
and finish in Shibuya

After lunch, if time allows, explore the outer area of the Imperial Palace with its wide promenades, stone walls and moats while learning about Japan’s imperial history. Then visit Meiji Jingu, set in a peaceful forest, and walk the backstreets of Harajuku to discover independent boutiques and youth fashion culture.

Finally, end the tour in Shibuya, feeling the modern energy of Tokyo at the famous Scramble Crossing and its giant screens. After the tour, your guide accompanies you back to your hotel.
