This cultural walking tour takes you through the night streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku, two of Tokyo's most famous districts, with a local guide. Starting at the Hachiko Statue and Shibuya Crossing, you'll ride the train to Shinjuku and explore the narrow alleys of Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai. Rather than drinking or partying, the tour focuses on the stories, architecture and etiquette behind Tokyo's nightlife. You'll also pick up useful Japanese phrases for ordering and paying, plus safety tips to avoid tourist scams.

Meet at the Hachiko Statue
and walk Shibuya Crossing
The tour starts at the Hachiko Statue outside the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station. Your guide explains how Shibuya grew into one of the busiest crossings in the world, then walks with you to Shibuya Crossing and shows you the best photo angles to capture the flow of people and lights. You'll hear about the crossing's history, why it became a symbol of Tokyo, and tips for enjoying the area like a local. Next, you'll pass through Center Street and small back alleys packed with restaurants, shops and signs.
Ride the train to Shinjuku like a local

After Shibuya, the group takes a short train ride to Shinjuku. Using public transport yourself, you'll learn how to navigate Japanese stations and ticket gates and the etiquette for rush hour. In Shinjuku, you'll also see the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and the Kabukicho area.
Explore the narrow alleys of
Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai

At Omoide Yokocho, you'll hear about the alley's post-war origins, how it became a landmark of tiny eateries, and how to behave in its cramped dining spaces. In Golden Gai, your guide explains why each tiny bar has its own theme, how these businesses survive in such limited space, and the local rules that protect the venues and their customers.
The group does not enter bars together, but you may buy snacks or drinks individually if you wish. The guided part of the experience ends in Shinjuku, after which your guide will help with directions and catching your train.
Learn Japanese phrases and
safety tips for Tokyo nights

Throughout the tour, your guide teaches useful Japanese phrases for ordering, paying and being polite in crowded places. You'll also get practical tips on avoiding tourist scams, understanding prices, following photo rules and enjoying Tokyo's nightlife responsibly.

Meeting point information:
The Hachiko Statue is just outside the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station, facing Shibuya Crossing with its giant video screens. The area is usually very crowded, so look for the small dog statue itself rather than the crowd. Your guide will stand next to the statue holding a bright neon green sash or sign. If it is busy, come close to the statue and look for the guide at the front of the crowd. If you can't find the statue after leaving the station, follow the signs for the Hachiko Exit or look for the open space across from the crossing with many taxis and the large QFRONT building screen. The tour ends at Shinjuku Golden Gai.
