This is a ticket to the gugak (traditional Korean music) performance held every Saturday at Umyeondang Hall of the National Gugak Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Performers of the National Gugak Center, which preserves and promotes Korean traditional performing arts, present a curated program of traditional music and dance on one stage, from lively folk songs to elegant court dances. Thanks to Umyeondang's traditional acoustic design, with ceramic jars beneath the stage amplifying the sound, you can enjoy the true tones of the instruments up close. The program changes every week, so even first-timers can easily enjoy the traditional Korean arts that are the roots of K-pop.

Enjoy a Saturday gugak performance
at Umyeondang Hall
Every Saturday at 3 PM, a performance of traditional Korean music and dance takes place for about 70 minutes at Umyeondang Hall of the National Gugak Center. Performers of the National Gugak Center present a curated program on one stage, from lively folk songs to elegant court dances, including works inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The program changes every week.
Feel the instruments through traditional acoustics

Umyeondang Hall was built with an acoustic design in which ceramic jars placed beneath the stage naturally amplify the sound without electronic equipment. As a result, the rich tones of traditional Korean instruments fill the entire hall, creating a close connection between performers and the audience.
Join the programs before and after the show

On Saturdays, there are also programs in English before and after the performance. A free tour of the Gugak Museum with an English-speaking guide starts at 2 PM, and a free janggu (drum) class where you can learn Korean rhythms is held at 4:30 PM.
※ The ticket office opens 1 hour before the performance, and entry to the hall begins at 2:30 PM.
