Starting at the entrance to Meiji Jingu, this small-group walking tour visits 7+ iconic buildings in Omotesando and Aoyama with a local guide, exploring Japan's modern history through architecture. See works by famous architects including Kenzo Tange's Yoyogi National Stadium and buildings by Tadao Ando, Toyo Ito, SANAA, Herzog & de Meuron and Kengo Kuma. Your guide connects each building to Japan's story, from postwar recovery and the bubble era to earthquakes, and you receive printed materials for every stop. A break with pineapple cake and Taiwanese tea at Kengo Kuma's SunnyHills is included.

Start at the Meiji Jingu entrance
and see Yoyogi National Stadium
Meet your guide at Meiji Jingu Ichino Torii, a surprisingly calm spot just steps from Harajuku's busy streets. Hear how Omotesando, created in 1919 as the approach to Meiji Jingu, grew into one of the world's most architecturally significant streets. Your first stop is Kenzo Tange's Yoyogi National Stadium, built to announce Japan's return to the world stage.
Walk past Omotesando's landmark architecture

Pass DIOR Omotesando, Tadao Ando's Omotesando Hills and Gallery Dojunkai, which honor the memory of the former Dojunkai apartments, the Bottega Veneta flagship, and Herzog & de Meuron's Prada Aoyama. Your guide ties these buildings into one story, showing how the architects behind the glittering facades responded to what Japan went through: the bursting of the economic bubble, the loss of urban memory and successive earthquakes.
Take a tea break at SunnyHills

Step inside SunnyHills Minami Aoyama, wrapped in timber by Kengo Kuma, to experience its design inside and out. Relax with pineapple cake and Taiwanese tea.
Finish at the entrance of the Nezu Museum

The tour ends at the entrance of Kengo Kuma's Nezu Museum, known for its bamboo walkway and Japanese garden. Museum admission is not included, but you can buy a ticket and visit on your own afterward. You'll also receive photos taken by your guide and a map of Tokyo's must-see architecture.
※ The order of the itinerary may change depending on traffic, weather or facility operations.
※ The Nezu Museum is closed on Mondays.
