From Taichung: Sun Moon Lake Day Tour with Ropeway & Lake Cruise

and explore Sun Moon Lake in one day

Board the vehicle at the Taichung pickup point you chose when booking (Pecan Fengjia Hotel 08:00, Miyahara 08:20, Taichung HSR Station 08:40) and head to Sun Moon Lake. This is a guided join-in tour, and every option includes the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway, a lake cruise and lunch. The tour takes about 10 hours in total and heads back to Taichung at 18:00.

Look down on the lake from the ropeway

Ride the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway (about 7 minutes one way) and enjoy the lake and mountains from above. On rainy or misty days, the scenery can look like an ink-wash painting. If the ropeway is suspended or under maintenance, a visit to Nina Chocolate Dream Castle is offered instead.

Cruise up close to Lalu Island

Take a lake cruise past Crescent Bay all the way to the front of Lalu Island. The captain shares the history and stories of Sun Moon Lake along the way.

Cycle the Xiangshan Bike Path over the lake

With the Cycling Course option, you ride the Xiangshan Bike Path for about 1 hour (basic 1-hour rental included). The gentle path, 600 m long and 3 m wide, is built over the lake, so it feels like riding on the water. It has been featured by CNN Travel as a beautiful cycling route.

Visit a tea factory, Wenwu Temple and the Xiangshan Visitor Center

With the Black Tea Factory & Wenwu Temple Course option, instead of cycling you visit the Riyue Old Tea Factory (about 20 minutes) to see its Japanese-era buildings and tea-making equipment and taste local black tea. Next, enjoy a panoramic view of the lake from Wenwu Temple on the northern hillside (about 40 minutes), and in the afternoon explore the observation deck and walking paths of the Xiangshan Visitor Center, known for its exposed-concrete architecture.
