Visit the Qalawun Complex, a Mamluk masterpiece

Next, head to the Qalawun Complex, built in the 13th century. It once housed a hospital, a school, and a mausoleum. Admire the decorative stucco and intricate mashrabiya woodwork while learning about the legacy of Sultan Qalawun.

Visit the churches of Coptic Cairo
and enjoy an Egyptian lunch

Continue to Coptic Cairo, with its quiet lanes and ancient churches, starting with the Church of St. George (Mar Girgis). One of the few round churches in Egypt, it stands on a Roman-era tower and connects to the monastery below. Then visit the Hanging Church, also known as the Church of the Virgin Mary. Built over a Roman gate, this basilica-style church holds more than 100 icons, some dating back to the 8th century. Your guide will share stories of early Christianity in Egypt and explain the symbolism in its architecture and art.

After the tour, enjoy a freshly prepared Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant before your driver takes you back to your hotel.
