Explore the vertical Jomblang Cave
and Pindul's underground river in one day

This tour departs from your hotel in Yogyakarta and visits Jomblang Cave and Pindul Cave in the Gunung Kidul area in one day. At Jomblang, descend by rope into a vertical cave to see the "light of heaven", and at Pindul, float along an underground river on a tube. A vehicle with an English-speaking driver, bottled water and lunch are included, and depending on the option you can visit just one cave or add Oyo River tubing.

Descend into Jomblang Cave and see the light of heaven

After about 1 hour 45 minutes by car from your hotel, arrive at Jomblang Cave, a vertical cave (sinkhole) formed thousands of years ago. Under the supervision of professional instructors, descend about 60 m using a rope. Walk past the ancient forest at the bottom and through a dark, muddy tunnel of about 300 m to Grubug Cave, where sunlight pours through the cave ceiling. Safety equipment including helmets and boots is provided.

Float along the underground river of Pindul Cave

Drive about 30 minutes to Pindul Cave. Wearing a life jacket and sitting on a tube, float along a calm underground river 300 to 350 m long while admiring some of the largest stalactites and stalagmites in the area. Non-swimmers can join too.

Finish the day with Oyo River tubing

You can enjoy tubing on the Oyo River, an outdoor river near Pindul. If you choose an option that includes Oyo River tubing, you can follow the cave adventure with river tubing in nature. Afterwards, return to Yogyakarta in about 1.5 hours by car.
