At Osayu on Sainokawara Street in Kusatsu Onsen, Gunma, you can watch monkeys perform "Yumomi", Kusatsu's traditional bathing method. The show is produced by Taro Murasaki of the Nikko Monkey Corps, a well-known monkey performance group, and the cute, skillful monkeys are sure to bring a smile to your face. On the 2nd floor, "Kapiyu" lets you watch capybaras soaking in hot spring water, feed them, and meet small animals such as rabbits and baby monkeys. Choose from the 1st-floor show, the 2nd-floor Kapiyu, or a set ticket for both.

Yumomi is Kusatsu Onsen's traditional way of cooling hot spring water by stirring it with long wooden boards instead of diluting it. On the 1st floor of Osayu, a monkey Yumomi show produced by Taro Murasaki of the Nikko Monkey Corps is held. Shows start at 10:00 and run for about 15 minutes every hour on the hour and half hour. The show is performed in Japanese only.

You can see the monkeys wearing towels and standing at the bath to perform Yumomi. There are no assigned seats, and if the venue is full you may be guided to the next show.

At the 2nd-floor animal encounter zone "Kapiyu", you can watch capybaras bathing in flowing hot spring water in a diorama modeled on Yubatake, and interact with them by feeding them. You can also feed and take photos with small animals such as baby monkeys (seasonal) and rabbits. The animals you can meet change from time to time.
※ Admission to Kapiyu on the 2nd floor may be temporarily suspended on some days. Please check the official website before your visit.
