We did the afternoon tour, and after a very bumpy ride on the road we reached the lunch spot, which turned out to be at the Manifa Elephant Camp. As it is not mentioned in the itinerary we were surprised that the lunch was at this elephant camp, where people are allowed to both feed and ride the elephants. If we had known, we wouldn’t have chosen this tour. However the tour itself was nice, just a bit long of a wait after lunch until we went out on the river to go to the caves. But it was interesting to see the caves, visiting the whisky village and the ride on the river was beautiful.

A lovely afternoon cruising the Mekong I chose the afternoon cruise to Pak Ou Caves and had a really enjoyable experience. The scenery along the Mekong River was beautiful, with lush green landscapes, limestone cliffs and glimpses of local life along the riverbanks. The highlight was visiting Pak Ou Caves, which contain thousands of Buddha images and are a fascinating place to explore. An unexpected bonus when we stopped at the restaurant for lunch was having the opportunity to feed a mother elephant and her baby — a really special experience! 🐘 I also met some lovely people on the trip, which made the afternoon even more enjoyable as a solo traveller. A great way to experience the Mekong and visit one of the area’s interesting cultural attractions. The cruise back at sunset was also spectacular. I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.

Took 2 half day tours with Manifa - afternoon tour of the caves and river cruise and morning tour of the waterfalls. Both were excellent -this is usually a full day tour but Manifa was easily able to accommodate us. Both tours were excellent - on time, informative with the right amount of free time. Highly recommend

The tour was really good, so was the food and the guide, our only problem was that while heading back we stayed near the boat for two extra minutes to take pictures and the van with the guide went off without us…

Enjoy a buffet lunch at a restaurant surrounded by tropical forest and overlooking the Mekong. On the morning cruise, you return to Luang Prabang by minivan around 2:00 PM after lunch. The afternoon cruise starts with a drive to Ban Xang Hai village for lunch, then visits the caves by boat and cruises back to Luang Prabang.
