Luang Prabang Mekong Solar Boat Sunset Cruise with Lao Food Tasting

Enjoy a sunset cruise of about 2 hours on the Mekong in Luang Prabang aboard Laos' first eco-friendly solar-powered boat. A welcome drink, light snacks and a tasting of 7 traditional Lao dishes are included, and you can take in the river views from comfortable seats and the open-air viewing area of the two-story wooden boat.

A tuk-tuk picks you up from your accommodation in the old town around 4:00 PM and takes you to the pier. The cruise departs between 4:30 and 5:00 PM and returns around 6:30–7:00 PM.

with a Lao mojito in hand

Once aboard, receive a Lao mojito as your welcome drink (a non-alcoholic option is available). As you glide slowly along the river, the sky turns gold and amber, creating a perfect backdrop for photos.

When the evening cools, cozy blankets are provided so you can return comfortably to the pier under the stars.

Write a wish on a bamboo leaf
and release it into the river

During the cruise, take part in a traditional Lao river ritual. Write a wish on a bamboo leaf and gently release it into the river with a small fish, a gesture symbolizing letting go of burdens and welcoming good fortune.

Taste 7 traditional Lao dishes
on a tasting platter

On board, a tasting platter is served to share in line with Lao dining tradition. It includes 7 dishes: sticky rice (khao niaw), Mekong river weed (khai phen), fried spring rolls (nem jeun), fresh spring rolls (nem dip), fish steamed in banana leaf (mok pa), lemongrass-stuffed minced pork (oua si khai) and mixed stir-fried vegetables.
